Tadao Ando
Designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando in 1989, the Church of the Light in Ibaraki, Osaka, is one of the most celebrated examples of minimalist architecture. The church is defined by a simple concrete box intersected by a cross-shaped cut in the wall, allowing natural light to create a striking spiritual experience. With no ornamentation, the space emphasizes the relationship between light, shadow, and emptiness—turning architecture itself into a form of timeless meditation.
