The SLR McLaren is a supercar created by Mercedes-Benz and McLaren from 2003–2010. The name comes from “Sport Leicht Rennsport,” a nod to the legendary 1950s 300 SLR.
It uses a hand-built 5.4L supercharged V8 from AMG. Front-engine, long nose, butterfly doors — a mix of Le Mans race car and luxury grand tourer.
The body is made from Formula 1–grade carbon fiber, and the airbrake wing is inspired by race car aerodynamics. It’s part race machine, part luxury experiment, part madness.
Enthusiasts see the SLR as the last Mercedes with true McLaren DNA.
